Campaign Chair Message

JerryEnews

The last couple of years have been very difficult ones for many people. Business closings, job losses, foreclosures, etc. have taken a tremendous toll in our community and across the nation. People are using United Way supported services who never believed they would have a need. Safety net resources have been strained to their limits. There continues to be concerns about whether we are yet on the road to economic recovery.

We all have an opportunity to positively impact the lives of those most affected. We can do so through a contribution during the campaign. We also can do so through volunteering our time and talent in supporting activities that help make our community a better place for all of our residents.

I am grateful that I can have an impact through my contribution and to volunteer my time and talent by chairing the 2010 United Way campaign. I thank my fellow campaign cabinet members for doing the same as leaders in this effort. This group of energetic people has been hard at work for several months preparing for the kick-off of the campaign on September 16th.

In the words of an unknown author, "I can't change the direction of the wind. But I can adjust my sails". As we prepare to start, our world will be what it is. Our goal will be to develop and implement strategies to reach as many people as we can and successfully encourage them to help make a positive impact on those in need. I hope you will join the thousands of others in making that impact.
