Denise Cumbee Long

Executive Director

Denise joined the UWHC team as Executive Director in April 2015. Prior to her arrival, Denise was the executive director of International House, a nonprofit organization in Charlotte serving immigrants and refugees. She previously served as executive director of NCLEAF, a statewide loan repayment program for public interest attorneys, and Safe Space, a domestic violence agency in Louisburg, NC. Denise holds a JD degree from the UNC School of Law and an MDiv from Southeastern Theological Seminary.  Denise recently completed a term on the board of United Way of North Carolina and currently is a member of the Flat Rock Board of Adjustment. She and her husband Bruce Holliday love hiking and exploring nearby trails with their two rescue pups and being part of a caring community here in Henderson County.
