Events

United Way of Henderson County host a variety of events throughout the year including community-wide volunteer events, affinity group meetings, and learning events. Check out the event schedule below and click to get more information.

August 1 - Day of Action

Day of Action mobilizes community volunteers to work on service projects that assist Henderson County Public Schools (HCPS) in preparing for the new academic year. On August 1st (rain date August 2nd) over 200 volunteers are needed to help HCPS spread mulch and prepare the campuses for the start of the school year. Individuals, families, colleagues, church and social groups are encouraged to participate. Click here to register as a volunteer.

August 17 - Middle Fork Fondo

Tempo Cyclisme is hosting its Middle Fork Fondo 2024 ride with a purpose fundraiser on August 17th with 100% of proceeds supporting the Tempo Project (Bikes for Kids) to provide bikes and helmets to children in need this holiday season. August 23 - EveryDay Strong Free Resiliency Trainings 

United Way of Henderson County will host an EveryDay Strong Resiliency Training on August 23rd, 2024 at Grace Lutheran Church (1245 6th Ave W in HVL) . 

Option A: EveryDay Strong Community Class in English and Spanish 9:00-10:30 am

  • There will be a 1.5-hour general session for anyone interested in learning more about EveryDay Strong. This Session will be available for 90 participants.
  • Cenzontle Language Justice Cooperative will provide simultaneous translations into Spanish and English for this 1.5-hour session.
  • This class is free to attend and open to all.

Option B: Train-the-Trainer Extended Class 9:00-3:00pm

  • A 4- hour train-the-trainer deep dive into EveryDay Strong and available resources will follow the 1.5-hour EveryDay Strong Community Class for those interested in learning how to bring EveryDay Strong back to your organization. Participants that sign up for the train-the-trainer session are automatically signed up for the 1.5-hour community class and then will stay to complete the 4-hour extended session.
  • The 4-hour extended session will only be presented in English this time.
  • The extended session is free to attend and open to all.
