Equity and Inclusion

Equity and inclusion

Anti-Racism/Ethnic Discrimination Statement

For nearly 70 years, United Way of Henderson County has worked to bring positive change by fighting for the education, financial stability, and health of every person in our community.  Equity and inclusion are at the heart of our efforts to reduce disparities and advance the common good. We are committed to improving equity within our organization and throughout our community.

In December 2021, our Board of Directors unanimously approved this statement as a guiding principle for our work.

  • We RECOGNIZE structural racism, ethnic discrimination and other forms of oppression have contributed to racial disparities in our community in the past and persist in the present.
  • We ACKNOWLEDGE these disparities are the result of policies and practices that systematically work to marginalize entire populations.
  • We CONDEMN any form of racism and ethnic discrimination that undermines the well-being and vitality of our community.
  • We COMMIT all our efforts and assets to create a more equitable community by co-creating solutions to ensure everyone has the resources, support, opportunities and network they need to thrive
