Katie Maybin was born in New York's Hudson Valley and moved to the Carolinas in 2005. She attended Clemson University, where she earned her BA in Communication Studies. Katie attended graduate school to earn her MA in Teaching and spent 15 years as an elementary school teacher, 11 of those here in Henderson County Public Schools. Across her career, she has always been drawn toward public service, spending summers working with the Boys & Girls Club, serving in multiple capacities within public schools, and chairing Hillandale Elementary’s Parent Involvement/Family Engagement committee for 10 years, where she organized events and outreach. She loves living in beautiful Henderson County, where the orchards, farms, and mountains are just like home. Outside of work, she loves traveling to visit her relatives and spending time with her wonderful husband and their family.
